Golf Course Superintendent   /   July 2022-Present

Founded in 1899, Sakonnet Golf Club course was designed by famed golf architect, Donald Ross, who made Little Compton his summer home, and redesigned the course hole by hole over two decades. This 18 Hole course plays at 6,337 yards, par 70 at the Southern tip of Little Compton, Rhode Island. The combination of sea views and stone walls make the course unforgettable.

Responsible for planning, supervision, and implementation of all agronomic, cultural and irrigation practices daily.

 

Training, supervision, and scheduling of approximately 15 employees.

 

Developed and instituted a new culture and expectations within the grounds department.

 

Supervised and managed all pesticide/fertilizer calibration and application.

 

Responsible for all record keeping and inventory for pesticide and fertilizer usage.

 

Constantly monitoring water management to provide elite playing conditions and to preserve water due to an inadequate irrigation pond.

 

Management of 8 tennis courts, 4 paddle tennis courts, 2 tennis hard courts, and all snow removal

 

Provide daily championship conditioning that meet or exceed member expectations

OAKLAND HILLS COUNTRY CLUB  /   BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI   
North/South Course Superintendent   /   January 2019-July 2022

36 hole private club founded in 1916. Oakland Hills has played a significant role in the

history of golf in the United States. Walter Hagen, five time PGA Champion, was the club’s

first head professional. The South Course has played host to 17 Major Championships and

some of the greatest players ever to play the game including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus,

Gary Player, and Ben Hogan have competed and won on the famed South Course, also

known as “The Monster”.

Along with Director of Agronomy, responsible for planning, supervision and implementation of all agronomic, cultural and irrigation practices daily; training, supervision and scheduling of approximately 50 employees.

 

Assisted in the recruitment and hiring process of seasonal staff employees.

 

Facilitated development and growth of interns, assistant superintendents in training, and assistant

superintendents.

 

Worked in conjunction with Director of Agronomy with yearly operating budget and South Course

Renovation budget.

 

Provide daily championship conditioning that meet or exceed member expectations at a top 100 club.

 

Worked closely with club officials, contractors, and architects in executing $12.5M South Course Renovation.

 

Renovation project management and day-to-day interaction with Gil Hanse and construction managers.

 

Rebuilt/seeded 19 USGA spec greens with 007 777 L-93 XD creeping bentgrass varieties and rebuilt/seeded 18 holes of tees and fairways with 007 and Flagstick creeping bentgrass varieties.

 

Installed 19 Precision Aire Vault systems with in-house staff.

 

Installed 40,000 linear feet of XGD drainage in fairways.

 

Executed a dramatic tree removal and pruning program to improve conditions and playability.

 

Installed and operated new Rain Bird IC irrigation system and Watertronics Pump Station.

GREENWICH COUNTRY CLUB  /   GREENWICH, CT  
Interim Golf Course Superintendent   /   July 2019-November 2019

Greenwich Country Club is located 35 miles northwest of NYC. Established in 1892 and designed by Seth Raynor, the club also features 8 har-tru tennis courts, 4 paddle courts, 3 squash courts, and skeet/trap.

Interim Golf Course Superintendent managed the course coming out of a Master Plan Renovation which included rebuilding of 20 USGA spec greens, bunker reconstruction with Better Billy Bunker liner and Rain Bird IC irrigation system.

 

Organized and setup new Rainbird IC irrigation system

 

Responsible for planning, supervision, and implementation of all agronomic, cultural and irrigation

practices daily.

 

Implemented bentgrass fairway overseeding program to improve playability and aesthetics.

 

Implemented sound agronomic fundamentals and water management on new USGA spec greens.

 

Greens and approaches were sodded with 007 creeping bentgrass.

 

Successfully managed previously approved budget.

THE LOS ANGELES COUNTRY CLUB  /   LOS ANGELES, CA  
North Course Superintendent   /   March 2018-December 2018

36-hole private club that has taken on impressive course renovation projects within the last decade,

along with hosting professional events. Los Angeles Country Club will play host to the 2023 US Open.

Along with Director of Agronomy, responsible for planning, supervision and implementation of all agronomic,cultural and irrigation practices daily; training, supervision, and scheduling of approximately 50 employees.

 

2023 US Open preparations: planting perimeter screening, strategic tree plantings, native area reconstruction.

 

Management of 007 + Tyee creeping bentgrass greens and Bermudagrass tees, fairways, and rough.

DEDHAM COUNTRY AND POLO CLUB  /   DEDHAM, MA  
Assistant Superintendent   /   2016-2018

18-hole Seth Raynor designed private country club in suburban Boston, MA. Dedham Country and Polo Club underwent a complete Master Plan restoration, bunker renovation, pumphouse reconstruction, irrigation system install, and greens reconstruction project in 2017.

Training, supervision, and scheduling of approximately 25 employees.

 

Worked closely with Golf Course Superintendent, General Manager, Grounds Chairman, and Golf Construction Managers in planning and executing restoration project.

 

Managed and oversaw contractors and club staff throughout restoration project.

 

With the Golf Course Superintendent, developed and instituted a new culture and expectations within the grounds department.

 

Assisted in the recruitment and development of interns and assistant superintendents in training.

 

Provided Championship conditioning, pre-restoration, on predominantly poa/native push-up putting greens.

 

Managed 007 + Pure Distinction creeping bentgrass greens and approaches post-restoration.

 

Supervised and managed all pesticide/fertilizer calibration and application.

 

Responsible for all record keeping and inventory for pesticide and fertilizer usage.

36 Hole private country club that has taken on impressive cours e renovation projects within the last decade. Coming out of hosting the 2013 PGA Championship, LACC was an eye-opening experience as to different management techniques, different climates, and was integral in my development as a young turf professional.

Internship  /  Summer 2012

 

18 Hole private country club designed by Arnold Palmer in 2002. The summer of 2012 was my first taste of

tournament golf as the club hosted the United States Jr. Amateur Championship.

 

 

 

COHASSET GOLF CLUB  /  COHASSET, MA

Seasonal Staff + Internship  /  2008 – 2011

 

Established in 1894, Cohasset Golf Club is a Donald Ross design and is one of the oldest private clubs in New England. After two seasons as a seasonal staff member, my professional career began in Cohasset, where I underwent two summer internships.
